Begin or continue your watercolor journey! This is Nature Painting in Watercolor: Learn to paint florals, ferns, trees, and more in colorful, contemporary watercolor by Kristine A. Lombardi. In an approachable format this experienced illustrator offers beginner instruction on painting nature in watercolor. During her nature walks she documents what she encounters on her phone camera. After photographing she sets out to capture their essence on paper - essence rather than trying to perfectly replicate. She provides useful information about watercolor tools and materials. Learn about the brushes, paper and paint she likes and why. For the projects in this book, and in general, she uses round, filbert, synthetic squirrel, liner, mop and scrubber brushes. Put brush to paper exploring the following watercolor techniques - wet-into-wet, wet-on-dry, gradations, connecting with color, masking fluid, blooms, light to dark layering, dry brushing and more. Learn some color fundamentals then experiment with color mixing, beginning with the primary colors red, yellow and blue. Each of the watercolor tutorials includes step-by-step illustrated instruction with text so you know exactly what brush, paint color and technique to use. Practice essential techniques as you paint ferns, mushrooms, buds, blooms, birds, leaves, pods, thistles, branches and more. Several gallery pages of informal nature paintings will inspire you. Paint and grow your skills and confidence! The table of contents is listed below. Walter Foster released the 128 page paperback on March 23, 2021. Get your copy below!

About the Artist
CALADIUM LEAF
1. Using a #8 round brush and plenty of water, paint a simple pink heart.
2. Dip the brush into a green-gold mixture and draw around the perimeter, allowing the green to blend into the pink.
3. Use the tip of a smaller #4 round brush to create a vein down the middle of the leaf, and then add rounded veins that slope down and out to the edges of the leaf.
4. With a darker green, use the tip of a #8 round brush to tap randomly into the wet leaf shape and around its perimeter, allowing the colors to bleed into each other. Finally, with a toothpick, score tiny vein lines into the wet paint.
