Her book Creative Journaling is a guide to over 100 techniques and ideas for amazing dot grid, junk, mixed-media and travel pages. In 52 projects (from simple to ambitious) she demonstrates how to set up and decorate 4 popular journal types. Step-by-step instructions with lots of pictures take you start to finish. She begins with an overview of the tools and materials you might find useful. I notice a fondness for washi tape, stamps and stencils. Up first is dot grid. Dot grid journals are used to organize and manage your life. The layouts demo a to-do list, savings tracker, gratitude log, bucket list and much, much more. The pages are completely customizable to your personal needs and wants. And they can be as pretty as you like. In junk journaling miscellaneous items are used to make a journal. The layouts demo the 3 main parts - cover, signature and binding. Use things you've saved, items from the junk drawer and odds and ends. In mixed-media journaling a variety of art techniques are used to design a page. The layouts demo how to use a combination of materials to create layers, texture and color. I like how bubble wrap, cardboard and empty tape rolls etc. are repurposed as stamps. In travel journaling the layouts demo fun ways of documenting a trip. This includes 4 kinds of pockets for holding mementos like ticket stubs, brochures and post cards. The last chapter contains some extras. My favorite is the yarn tassel paper clip.
