Square Origami Box

Square Origami Box

A square origami box with a lid. The design from Origami Boxes by Tomoko Fuse requires 8 square pieces of paper, 4 for the top and 4 for the bottom. I used 15 x 15cm rice paper with a simple red and white pattern. The finished box measures 8.5 x 8.5 with a depth of 4.5cm. There's a pattern on the inside of the box. This type of folding is also known as unit or modular origami. No scissors, glue or tape used!

  1. This is a charming little box. It would be memorable for small and special gifts.

  2. This would be great as a button box. Sorted by colour, a sample button could be attached to the top to identify the colour inside. Depending on the type of button, it might be used as a handle to open the box.

  6. Nice box. With all of the different patterns of rice paper, I could see many being made in all different patterns.
